New Delhi to host maiden women-only tennis coaching programme from October 24-30

Advancing Coaching Excellence, empowering women coaches and strengthening Indian tennis

New Delhi, September 11, 2026: The All India Tennis Association (AITA), in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the World Tennis (WT) will conduct India’s first All-Women Coaches Course from October 24 to 30, 2026, at the DLTA Tennis Stadium, New Delhi, as part of AITA’s ACE 2032 – Advancing Coaching Excellence initiative.

The pioneering initiative is aimed at empowering women coaches through specialised coaching education and skill development, while creating greater opportunities for women to play a stronger role in the growth and development, apart from promoting Gender Equality in Indian Tennis.

The seven-day certification course will comprise the ITF Play Tennis Course and the AITA Level 1 Fitness Course, and will be led by coaching experts Kawaljeet Singh and Radhika Kanitkar alongside Shivika Burman and Ashutosh Singh.

A maximum of 36 participants will be accommodated for the course. All State Associations have been requested to nominate one eligible female coach from their respective state. Candidates must be Indian citizens, with entries being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the maximum capacity is reached. The deadline for entries is October 10, 2026.

Boarding and lodging will be provided free of cost for candidates nominated by their State Associations and selected by AITA and also cover the entire course fees. AITA will also provide course material to all participants.

Speaking about the initiative, Sunder Iyer, Hon. This course is a significant step towards providing women coaches with greater access to quality coaching education, enhancing their skills and creating more opportunities for them to contribute to player development. We encourage all State Associations to nominate eligible women coaches and make the most of this important initiative.”

The All-Women Coaches Course is an important component of AITA’s ACE 2032 – Advancing Coaching Excellence vision, which seeks to strengthen coach education, expand opportunities for coaches and build a modern, inclusive and high-quality coaching ecosystem across Indian tennis.

Through ACE 2032, AITA is committed to creating a stronger pathway for coaches while supporting the development of players at every level and ensuring that women have an increasingly significant role in the future of Indian tennis.
