Ahmedabad, September 11, 2026: The J30 Ahmedabad – Juniors World Tennis Tour moved into its decisive stage on Friday, as the singles semifinals delivered two finalists in the boys’ and girls’ events — headlined by a stunning upset in the boys’ draw.
Lakshya Vardhan Chukka produces the upset of the tournament
Lakshya Vardhan Chukka delivered the standout result of the day, edging past Boys’ Singles top seed Om Patel in a gripping three-set semifinal. Chukka took the opening set 6-2, before Patel hit back to level things at 7-5. The Indian junior regrouped in the decider, closing out a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win.
Chukka now moves into the Boys’ Singles final, where he’ll face second seed Nirbhay Agarwal (USA), who booked his spot with a composed 6-4, 6-4 win over Abhivadya Misra.
Disha Kumar sets up final against Saatvi Mardaniya
In the Girls’ Singles, top seed Disha Kumar extended her strong campaign with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Srushti Prakash Suryavanshi, dropping just two games to reach the final. She’ll face Saatvi Parag Mardaniya, who advanced after her semifinal against Swasti Singh ended in a walkover.

Doubles
In the Boys’ Doubles, Amrit Dhankar and Can Lawani (CHN) got past Indian pair Neil Ambekar and Raghav Prabhu 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals, then defeated Nithinbarath Ks and Vyom Shah 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals to reach the final.
In the Girls’ Doubles, Indian duo Disha Kumar and Riddhi Shinde defeated Advita Gupta and Aaradhana Tehlan 6-1, 7-6(5) in the quarterfinals, followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sidhhi Pandey and Zoha Qureshi in the semifinals to book their place in the final.
With both singles finals set for Sunday, home favourite Lakshya Vardhan Chukka’s run — capped by his win over the top seed — stands out as the highlight of a tournament that continues to spotlight India’s rising junior talent.
