PROSTEJOV, CZECHIA — The Indian U14 girls’ team ended their campaign at the World Tennis 14&U Junior Team Finals with a perfect play-off run, defeating the Republic of Korea 2-0 to secure 9th place overall on Saturday.

Competing on Court 6 at the T.K. Prostejov Club’s “Old Area,” India clinched the tie with back-to-back victories in the singles rubbers. This completed a dominant sweep of the 9th to 16th Place Knock-out bracket, following earlier 2-0 wins against Colombia and Canada.

In the opening match (Singles No. 2), Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar faced a tough battle against Korea’s Yeonkyung Lim. After dominating the first set, Kumar saw Lim fight back to take the second. However, Kumar held her nerve in the decisive match tiebreak to claim a 6-1, 5-7, 10-7 victory in 1 hour and 38 minutes.

Srishti Kiran then stepped onto the court for the Singles No. 1 rubber and delivered a flawless performance against Ayul Kim. Kiran completely outclassed her opponent, securing a 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel victory in just over an hour to officially seal the tie for India.
