Thea Frodin and Maaya Rajeshwaran

Wimbledon Juniors 2026: Rajeshwaran-Frodin fight back from a set down to reach Quarter-Final

India’s Maaya Rajeshwaran and her American partner Thea Frodin battled back from a set down to beat Ilary Pistola and Giulia Safina Popa 5-7 7-5 [10-3], booking their place in the quarter-final of the Wimbledon Girls’ Doubles.

Turning It Around

The pairing narrowly lost the opening set 5-7, facing an early setback against the Italian-Romanian duo. Rather than letting the deficit linger, Rajeshwaran and Frodin regrouped to level the match by clinching the second 7-5, forcing a deciding match tiebreak.

There was no drama in the breaker. Rajeshwaran and Frodin took full control, racing through it 10-3 to seal the win and complete the turnaround in style.

A High-Stakes Test Awaits

Their reward is a quarter-final clash against top seeds Victoria Luiza Barros and Nauhany Vitoria Leme Da Silva of Brazil, arguably the toughest test remaining in the draw. It sets up a high-stakes meeting between a pair on the rise and the tournament’s in-form team.
