Paparkar and Pantaratorn

Wimbledon Juniors 2026: Paparkar-Pantaratorn push top seeds to a deciding tiebreak, fall agonizingly short

India’s Arnav Paparkar and his Thai partner Kunanan Pantaratorn came agonizingly close to a stunning upset at Wimbledon Juniors 2026, falling to top seeds Luis Guto Miguel and Ziga Sesko 6-3 5-7 [16-18] in a pre-quarterfinal that swung back and forth until the very last point.

A Contest for the Ages

The scoreline barely captures what unfolded on Court 8. Paparkar and Pantaratorn drew first blood, taking the opener 6-3, before the top seeds hit back to level things at 7-5, sending the match to a deciding tiebreak that lived up to every bit of the occasion.

Four Match Points, Twice Over

Paparkar and Pantaratorn came flying out of the blocks in the breaker, racing to an early 6-3 lead. But the tiebreak went on to tighten into a tense, extended battle. Paparkar and Pantaratorn generated four match points of their own, all saved by Miguel and Sesko. The top seeds also found four match points of their own, only for Paparkar and Pantaratorn to save every one right back. It took a fifth match point, and a nerve-wracking finish, for Miguel and Sesko to finally close it out 18-16.

The Weight of the Opposition

Sesko arrived as the reigning Junior Australian Open singles champion, while Miguel walked in as the current Junior Roland-Garros singles titleholder. Miguel’s résumé extends well beyond the junior circuit too, sitting at No. 173 in the ATP Doubles Rankings with three Challenger doubles trophies already banked.

Onward to Singles

A defeat this narrow, against opposition this formidable, says more about the fight Paparkar and Pantaratorn brought than the result itself. Attention now shifts fully to Paparkar’s singles quarter-final, where he’ll look to carry that same fight forward.
