Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri, partnering with France’s Albano Olivetti, pulled off a stunning comeback upset win to reach the third round of the 2023 US Open doubles. The duo defeated the 15th-seeded pair of Austin Krajicek (USA) and Jean-Julien Rojer (Netherlands) in a thrilling 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.
The match looked grim for Bhambri and Olivetti, who were down 3-5 in the third set. However, the pair staged a dramatic comeback, winning four consecutive games to secure the victory. Krajicek, a former World No.1, and Rojer, a former World No.3, were on top of their games, hungry for the win, but our pair managed to scrape through in the end.
This result marks Bhambri’s best performance in a Grand Slam, matching his third-round finish at the 2014 Australian Open in singles. The pair will likely take on top seeds Granollers/Zeballos for a place in the quarter-final.
