Anjali Rathi enters WTA Rankings
Eighteen year old Anjali Rathi made her WTA ranking debut qualifying for the main draw at the W35 Maha Urja Nagpur Open ITF Women’s Championships which is being organized by the Nagpur District Hard Court Tennis Association (NDHTA) and Maharashtra State Lawn tennis Association (MSLTA) under the auspices of the ITF , AITA played on the clay courts of the MSLTA Tennis Academy Tennis Complex at Ramnagar
In the final round qualifying Haryana lasse Anjali Rathi made her third ITF point thus ensuring a WTA ranking toppling third seed Michika Ozeki of Japan 6-3 6-2;
Four other Indian girls also made it to the main draw after their wins in the final round
Two Maharashtra girls also made it to the main draw fourth seed Vaishnavi Adkar came back from loss of the first set to get past Pooja Ingale (Ind) [9] 3-6 6-0 [10-3] , 12th seed Akanksha Nitture saved six match points to overcome a fighting Joell Nichole 5-7 6-2 [14-12]
In other matches featuring Indians Soha Sadiq scored a 6-3,6-2 win against Lakshmi Gowda , while sixth seeded Humera Baharmus outplayed Kavya Khirwar 6-2 6-2 to make it into the main draw.
