India’s Vedant Mohan won both the boys’ singles and doubles titles at the ITF J60 Nairobi, played on clay in the Kenyan capital from 2 to 7 November 2026.
The 15-year-old beat France’s Thomas Piot 6-7(4) 6-3 6-4 in the singles final. In doubles, he partnered Frenchman Jaylon Gabet to the title with a 7-6(4) 7-6(5) win over the Indian pair of Ahan Shetty and Ayan Shetty.
Singles: a comeback in the final
Vedant received a first-round bye and dropped just one game in his opening match, beating Israel’s Ben Weiss 6-1 6-0 in the second round.
The matches got tighter from there. He needed three sets to get past Kenya’s Zayyan Virani 7-5 5-7 6-4 in the third round, then beat Mexico’s Juan De Dios Moreno Mendoza 7-5 6-2 in the quarter-finals.
His semi-final against Gabet also went the distance, with Vedant winning 6-2 5-7 6-2.
In the final, Piot took the opening set in a tiebreak. Vedant levelled the match 6-3 and closed out the deciding set 6-4. Three of his five singles matches went to a third set.
Doubles: teaming up with his semi-final opponent
In doubles, Vedant played alongside Gabet, the player he beat in the singles semi-final. After a first-round bye, the pair conceded only four games across their next two matches. They beat Sweden’s Leo Granlund and Ted Granlund 6-1 6-1, then Kenya’s Mark Murage and Iran’s Ashkan Sotoodeh Nia Korani by the same score.
They beat Japan’s Shungo Hayashi and Masamune Matsumoto 6-4 6-4 in the semi-finals.
The final against Ahan and Ayan Shetty was closer, with both sets going to tiebreaks. With Indian players on both sides of the net, an Indian was certain to lift the doubles trophy. Vedant and Gabet won the title without dropping a set.
Background
Vedant moved up to the ITF junior circuit in 2025 after playing as a sub-junior on the Tennis Europe circuit, where he reached No. 13 in the Under-14 rankings that January. At the time, he was training in Javea, Spain, and told The Times of India that clay was his favourite surface.
