National Games Tennis Day 2 – Maharashtra to face Gujarat in the women’s team event finals

On the second day at Sabarmati Riverfront, V4, tennis courts men’s team and women’s team semi finals were scheduled.

Vaishnavi Adkar and Rutuja Bhosale shines as Maharashtra moves into Gold medal tie

In a battle between young gen, Vaishnavi defeated Lakshmi Prabha of Tamil Nadu in a tough 3 setter to give Maharashtra a 1-0 lead in the semis.

Maharashtra d. Tamil Nadu : 6-1 4-6 6-4

Where the first match was between young players, the second match of the tie was between experienced players. Rutuja Bhosale representing Maharashtra proved strong against Sai Samhitha of Tamil Nadu. Rutuja won the match in straight sets 6-3 6-2, hence booking their birth into the gold medal match.

Host Gujarat also moves into the finals outclassing Karnataka

Top seed and led by India’s No 1 Ankita Raina, Gujarat defeated Karnataka. Sharmada Balu led the Karnataka’s team and was supported by Soha Sadiq.

Men’s Team Event – Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) gets past Delhi to move into finals

A strong team which is lead by experienced N Sriram Balaji, 3rd seed SSCB proved strong against the young Delhi team as they won both their matches in straight sets to book their place in the finals.

Maharashtra and Karnataka battling it out in the final match

A close tie is in progress between Arjun Kadhe’s Maharashtra team and 2nd seed Karnataka. In the first match 14 year old Manas Dhamne defeated Adil Kalyanpur in 3 sets. Karnataka made a comeback winning the second match in straight sets hence levelling the tie 1-1. The final match of the tie is now in progress.
