The 36th National Games was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the opening ceremony in the presence of approximately 1,00,000 audience at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ankita Raina took the fairplay oath on behalf of the players.

Ankita is representing the host state Gujarat in the National Games. Gujarat women’s team is just a set away from reaching the finals of the event and hence confirming atleast a silver medal. Ankita will also take part in the women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles event later in the week.
The ceremony also witnessed several present and past sporting icons from the country including Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Ravi Dahiya, Mirabai Chanu, Gagan Narang, Dilip Tirkey and Anju Bobby George.
Gujarat’s swimming star Maana Patel brought the symbolic ‘Torch of Unity’ into the arena and handed it over to the Prime Minister.
