The Tennis events started today at the Gujarat National Games on the Sabarmati Riverfront, V4, Ahmedabad tennis courts. Both men’s and women’s team Quarter Finals were scheduled for Day 1.
Women’s Team : Top 4 seeds progress to Semi Finals
Host and top seed Gujarat defeated Telangana 2-0
Lead by Ankita Raina, strong Gujarat team which includes Zeel Desai, Vaidehi Chaudhari, Himadri Kashyap and Priyanshi Bhandari won their first 2 matches in the best of 3 tie.
Karnataka outclass Uttar Pradesh 2-0 to move into semis
Lead by experienced Sharmada Balu and supported by talented Soha Sadiq, third seed Karnataka proved strong for the Uttar Pradesh team as they won their first 2 matches to win the tie.
Tamil Nadu make a comeback to book their place in SF
After losing the first match in straight sets to Haryana, Tamil Nadu was on the verge of early exit before they made a comeback to win the second match in 3 sets and the final match in straight games to keep their hope alive.
2nd seed Maharashtra also moves into SF
Lead by Rutuja Bhosale, Maharashtra have some young talent in the form of Akanksha Nitture, Vaishnavi Adkar, Ruma and Ishwari. The team prove strong against Delhi as they move into next round with a 2-0 tie win in QF.

Men’s Team : Maharashtra defeated 4th seed Haryana to book their place in SF
Lead by Arjun Kadhe, Maharashtra won their first match in straight games and second match in 3 sets to get better of Haryana.
Karnataka gets past Uttar Pradesh in straight games
Maharashtra will face 2nd seed Karnataka for a place in the finals. Karnataka won both their matches in straight sets against Uttar Pradesh.
In the remaining two QF, Gujarat are playing Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and have won the first set of the first match. Tamil Nadu and Delhi are fighting in a close tie. Tamil Nadu won the first match in 3 sets and Delhi are up one set in the second match.
