Top seed Karan Singh (IND, 401) bowed out in the opening round of the $15,000 ITF M15 Sharm El Sheikh outdoor hard-court tournament in Egypt on Wednesday, falling 4-6, 2-6 to wildcard Daniel Verbeek (NED, 1083) in the Round of 32.

Quick 72-hour turnaround from M25 Mumbai title run ends in R32

Competing on Court 4 just 72 hours after capturing the ITF M25 Mumbai singles title on Sunday, 23-year-old Karan Singh (IND, 401) battled through a tight 10-game opening set before Verbeek (NED, 1083) closed out the match 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets. With his +25 points from M25 Mumbai scheduled to be added on the Monday, November 2 rankings update, Singh remains projected to climb inside the top 355 next week past his previous career high of 388.

In the men’s singles qualifying draw held earlier in the week, 6 Indian players — Arjun Oza (IND, UNR), wildcard Medhir Goyal (IND, UNR), Bhavya Singhmar (IND, UNR), Neeraj Ringangaonkar (IND, UNR), alternate Emon Bhatt (IND, UNR), and Aryan Jolly (IND, UNR) — exited in the 1st qualifying round, with Bhatt pushing Ivan Bolzan (BLR, UNR) to a 12-10 deciding match tiebreak after winning the 1st-set tiebreak 7-2.
