Leana Nannapaneni 🇦🇺 wins 2 titles in Adelaide

Leana moved to a career high of World No. 436 in the ITF Junior Rankings with this run. She will be next seen in action at the ITF J60 events in Fiji. She shared her thoughts on her titles in this below interview

Question: Just won back-to-back ITF titles, how does that feel?

Leana Nannapaneni: Pretty good, yeah. I’m really happy about it and it took a lot, but we finally got there. Um, and it was a long two weeks. It really took a toll on my body and my mind, but I finally got through those two weeks and pulled off the two wins, which went pretty good, and happy with it. And I wanna like, also like thank everyone with the tournament who like made it possible. And especially the tournament directors and the physio, she really got me through that week. And I would also like to thank my parents, especially my dad, because he really pushed me and got me through these last few tournaments, these last few weeks, and helped me to pull off that win as well.

Question: What was the key to your success over the two weeks?

Leana Nannapaneni: Definitely a lot of just like mental prepping. Like just trying to be like very positive, manifestation and stuff like that. Like trying to tell myself like you can do it and it is possible, and it’s like not… like you can reach the sky pretty much, like sky’s the limit. And obviously I had a lot of encouragement from my family, like they helped me so much. And once again, bringing my dad into picture, he helped me a lot. And yeah, just the environment that I was in because it’s a home tournament, so it was very familiar and it made me go into the tournament with like a really good mindset.

Question: What is the moment that you are most proud of from the tournament?

Leana Nannapaneni: So, I think the proudest moment of the tournament I had was like, obviously winning, but the J30 final against Escher, that match I played some of my best tennis. I was able to convert whatever I wanted to practice into the match, and I was able to kind of focus on everything that I was doing these last two weeks, and I was able to put it in that match. And I was really happy to see that it benefited me and it gave me the outcome that I was hoping for. And I think that definitely was a big highlight and the best part of the tournament for me personally.

Question: Dream tournament to play in?

Leana Nannapaneni: My dream tournament is definitely either the AO or the Wimbledon

Question: Who is your tennis idol?

Leana Nannapaneni: So my idol is definitely Roger and Serena.
