Pune, April 19, 2026: Four Indians — Dev Patel, Panshul Uboveja, Snigdha Kanta and Shaivi Dalal — qualified for the main draw of the boys and girls singles at the MSLTA Deccan Gymkhana Asia Oceania B1 Junior Tennis Championships organised by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association and Deccan Gymkhana, in association with PYC Hindu Gymkhana, and played on the Deccan Gymkhana tennis courts.
In the third and final round of qualifying, third seed Dev Patel stopped Ribhav Saroha 6-1, 6-4, while Panshul Uboveja registered a 6-2, 6-2 win over Varad Undre in all-Indian contests. Har Abir Sekhon of Australia and Sungmin Lee of Korea also made it to the main draw in the boys event.
In the girls final round, top seed Snigdha Kanta stopped Savitha Bhuvaneswaran 6-1, 6-2, while fifth seed Shaivi Dalal registered a 6-4, 6-0 win over Meha Patil. Second seed Rei Miyamoto and Misaki Sekido, both of Japan, also made it to the main draw.

World Jr. No. 46 Hyu Kawanishi of Japan and World Jr. No. 81 Riyo Yoshida of Japan will lead the seedings in the boys and girls main draw respectively, which gets underway on Monday.
Local boy Arnav Paparkar, who won a J200 event in Malaysia today, will be seeded second in the boys section. Nineteen Indian players will feature in the main draw of the prestigious event, which has been allotted to India by the Asian Tennis Federation after a gap of five years.
