Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA) and Kamal India Foundation UK have announced the launch of a groundbreaking program for underprivileged children in Assam. Kids selected for the program underwent a skill and fitness assessment process and were handpicked by 2024 Australian Open winner Rohan Bopanna from the remote areas of Majuli Island and Bongaigaon in the state of Assam.
This program, the first of its kind in India, will offer selected children a life-changing opportunity to pursue their passion for tennis while receiving essential support in education and accommodation.
The chosen participants will relocate to Bengaluru, where they will be provided with state-of-the-art infrastructure, a world-class tennis curriculum, experienced coaching faculty, boarding & lodging within the school campus, best standards in education, and guidance from Padma Shri recipient Rohan Bopanna himself at his Tennis Academy.
The selected children will undergo a rigorous training regimen under the guidance of experienced coaches at the academy, with the goal of honing their tennis skills and nurturing their potential for future success in the sport.
The launch of this program marks a significant milestone in the efforts to democratise access to tennis and promote inclusivity within the sport. Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy and Kamal India Foundation UK are excited to embark on this journey of empowerment and look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have on the lives of the participating children.
