The ATP 250 U.S. Men`s Clay Court Championship in Houston boasted of 3 Indian pairs in the doubles draw and all of them got off to a winning start, thereby assuring an Indian team spot in the semis.
The highlight of the action was Sriram Balaji and Andre Begemann defeating the reigning Grand Slam Champions Rajeev Ram (US Open) and Austin Krajicek (French Open) in a super tie break by a 3-6 7-6 10-6 scoreline. It is to be noted that Sriram Balaji had defeated Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig at the Australian Open last year.
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Arjun Kadhe also had a dominant win over Marcus Daniell / Luis David Martínez in R1 by 6-4 6-2 scoreline.
Vijay Prashant and Anirudh Chandrasekhar defeated former top-10 singles player Frances Tiafoe and Michael Mmoh in R1 before bowing out to former Wimbledon Champion Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in the quarters.
In the quarters, Jeevan and Arjun will square off against Sriram and Andre thereby assuring us of a semis spot in the doubles draw.
