Indian No.1 Sumit Nagal registered his biggest win of the year (by ranking of opponent), beating ATP #112 Zsombor Piros 6-3 6-4. Nagal had lost in straight sets to Piros just a couple of months back. Nagal produced some great tennis, being a break down in both sets.
Nagal spoke to the tournament team after the match. Interview excerpts below:
Q) Tell us about the match
Nagal – One of the best matches I’ve played this year. Very good quality. Piros is a very good friend of mine. There were a lot of good rallies and games. I don’t have anything bad to say about this match. If I keep playing like this, I think I’ll be in a good spot.
Q) Thoughts about your next match?
Nagal – Another one of my good friends Pedro Martinez plays next against a qualifier, an Italian guy. I play the winner of that match. I will definitely be watching that match. I hope I will be the better player tomorrow. Thank you.
