Rohan-Sania reach mixed doubles final in Australia, Prajnesh wins ITF title in Kuwait

Our top doubles players and juniors played at Australian Open in last couple of weeks.

Our best result was of course Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna finishing runner up in mixed doubles. However, there was a nice upset win by Shriram Balaji and Jeevan Neduncheziyan too and couple of wins by our juniors-

ATP Challenger Tour

Only RamK and Sumit played singles on challenger tour this week and lost in first round of challenger qualies against tough players. Sumit lost a very close in first round against a Belgian who went on to reach semi final.

Excellent run in doubles in France though of new pairing of Aniruddh Chandrashekhar and Arjun Kadhe. They beat 2 much higher ranked pairs to reach the final before falling to top seeds.

ITF Tour

On ITF tour, Prajnesh had an excellent run as he won his first title since 2018 in Kuwait M25. This is Prajnesh’s 11 pro title (2 challengers and 9 ITF futures). He will move up to around 306-308 in the rankings when these points are updated a week later, getting close to top 300.

On womens tour event in Pune, Ankita Raina reached the SF beating fellow Indians Karman Kaur Thandi in a very close match in QF before losing to a player ranked close to top 70.

Ankita and Prarthana Thombre won the doubles title. This was 26th doubles title for Ankita in her career and third with Prarthana. 25th doubles title for Prarthana.

Ankita is 133 in live rankings, Prarthana is at 160.

In doubles, Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli won their 8th title together since late last year. This their 6th straight doubles title and they are on 24 match unbeaten streak.
