“We are going to have very productive days here and discuss how we can structure development for doubles players in India moving forward” – Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan shares his thoughts on the training camp in Dubai

Many Indian doubles players are currently at the training camp in Dubai which is organized by Rohan Bopanna with support of sponsors Kishore Patil and Abhishek Tamhane. The list also includes left handed maestro Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan who is preparing for the big season ahead. Jeevan had a fine season winning 2 Challenger Titles with partner N Sriram Balaji, thanks to which both the players are currently knocking the door of top 100.

ITD Representative in Dubai Mr Krishnakumar (KK) was present during the camp today and had a conversation with Jeevan. Below are the excerpt :

Q) 2 back to back Challenger Titles and a couple of runner-up finishes, how do you view this year ?

JN : Viewed as a good year, a lot of progress as I started outside 200 I believe and moved up to #111 I think so yeah lot of potential for 2023 and very excited.

Q) 111 in the year end rankings and again knocking the door of the top 100 and Grand Slams next year. How important is this considering it was your first full Post Covid season?

JN : Yeah it’s exciting obviously and yeah would love to play the Grand Slams but right now I am in the zone and taking one day at a time and really enjoying my tennis.

Q) How will this camp help the players to prepare for the next season when there is a possibility of big Indian participation in Grand Slams ?

JN : Yeah great initiative specially Kishore Patil, the sponsors and Bops bringing the people together. I think it’s a step in the right direction for Indian Tennis specially doubles obviously and I think we are going to have very productive days here and discuss how we can structure development for doubles players in India moving forward.

Q) You and Bala had a good season. Will we see the team for next year too ?

JN : Yeah Definitely!

Q) Any specific goals for next year and how will you be approaching the tournament schedule?

JN : I would love to make it to Wimbledon next year.
