French Open Quarter-finalist Holger Rune has made the announcement that he is looking forward to represent Denmark on home soil against India in the upcoming Davis Cup Group I playoffs which is slated to be held for 2 days between February 3-5 2023.
The 19-yr old World No. 31 ranked player had skipped Davis Cup during the last two ties of Denmark i.e., tie against India in India and against El Salvador in El Salvador.
Apart from Holger, the Danish team features couple of bright upcoming tennis players who could be more than handful for the Indian Davis Cup team.
- August Holmgren – WR 587: August is the NCAA Singles Championship finalist and was the No. 1 ranked college tennis player on 12/08. He has transitioned to Pro Tennis and is poised to make his Grand Slam qualies debut next year.
- Elmer Møller – WR 879: Elmer has a career high ITF Junior ranking of 21. Elmer played during the El Salvador Davis Cup tie and scored a win and a loss each.
Both of these budding players are expected to be tough opponents for the Indian Davis Cup on their own right.
The team selections for both the countries are expected to finalised over the next 2-3 months.
