Seven Indian players advance to quarter-finals at Aryan Pumps Asian Junior Tennis Championship

Pune, December 8, India: Five boys and two Indian girls  moved into the Boys and Girls singles QF at the Aryan Pumps Asian Junior Tennis Championship organised by Deccan Gymkhana Under the auspices of ITF, Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association and Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association and played at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis courts in Pune on Wednesday.

Nishant Dabas, Aman Dahiya, Chirag Duhan, Denim Yadav and Yuvan Nandal ensured place in last 8 In the  boys section. While two girls Shruti Ahlawat and Suhitha Maruri made it to the quarter finals rounds.

The Indian boys dominance started on the courts with, second seeded Nishant Dabas scoring 6-3, 7-5 win over Islam Orynbasar of Kazakhstan 6-3, 7-5 followed by fourth seed Aman Dahiya defeating Vineeth Mutyala  6-4, 6-2.

Seventh seeded Denim Yadav was stretched to three sets before he sent home another Kazakhstan player Daniil Felker 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Sixth seeded Chirag Duhan and eighth seeded Yuvan Nandal scored victories in two sets defeating Aryan Lakshmanan 6-2, 6-3 and Shingo Masuda of Japan 6-4, 6-4 respectively.

Among girls, third seeded Shruti Ahlawat outplayed Honoka Umeda of Japan 6-0, 6-3 and eight seeded Suhitha Maruri ousted Erkezhan Arystanbekova of Kazakhstan 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3.

Local challengers Sonal Patil, Madhurima Sawant and Ruma Gaikaiwari went down against their respective opponents ending the Pune challenge in the tournament. While Saheb Singh Sodhi remained the only player from the state to make the quarter finals Saheb Sodhi edging past another state player  Anargha Ganguly 4-6, 6-0, 6-2
