Sania Mirza wins her 43rd career doubles title,breaks back into the top-75 : Week of 20th Sep – Indian Tennis Roundup

Sania Mirza had the most successful week since her another comeback this year when she won WTA Ostrava title along with her Chinese partner Shuai Zhang. This is her 43rd WTA Doubles title and her second one post maternity break. This win also brought Mirza into the top-75 in the WTA rankings (WTA #62). She also overtakes Raina as the Indian no.1 doubles player.

Divij Sharan lost in first round of ATP tournament in France.

At Moselle Open, Metz, France (Hard)

[R1] Divij Sharan (IND) / Jonny O’Mara (GBR) l. Hunter Resse (USA) / Sam Verbeek (NED) 63 36 8-10

Divij is now ranked 109 in doubles rankings and has further big points to defend in next couple of weeks. So, he will find it hard to make it to the ATP main draws now and will have to make it back up from the challenger tour.

ATP Challenger Tour

Ramkumar made it to the QF of a challenger on indoor hard courts in Switzerland getting a couple of very good wins over in-form players before losing his third consecutive match against British Liam Broady who went on to win the title. Arjun and his French partner reached the quarterfinals in Switzerland.

Prajnesh won a round in a US challenger but Mukund lost in first round of the same challenger. Sumit Nagal lost a heartbreaking match to 🇮🇹 Lorenzo GiustinoSumit led 4-0 in the 3rd set before his movement got severely hampered.
