Nirupama Sanjeev (nee Vaidyanathan) was the first Indian female tennis player to win a singles match at a Grand Slam, the 1998 Australian Open. Most recently, after giving birth to her daughter, she returned to compete for India at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.
