Sumit Nagal moved into the men’s singles quarterfinals at the Asian Games with a commanding 6–3, 6–2 victory over Uzbekistan’s Sergey Fomin.
The Indian now faces China’s Wu Yibing, who booked his place in the last eight with a 6–1, 6–2 win over Indonesia’s M. Rifqi Fitriadi. Wo is currently ranked ATP 111 and have a career high ranking of 54.

Nagal and Wu have met once previously, in the first round of the 2024 Shanghai Masters. Wu won that encounter 6–3, 6–3.
With a place in the semifinals at stake, Nagal is now just one win away from assuring himself an Asian Games medal.
