Indian tennis player Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta has been making his way back on the professional circuit after a frustrating injury layoff. Currently competing at the ITF M25 event in Tauste, Spain, alongside his doubles partner and compatriot Aryan Shah, Sai Karteek sat down with CanalTenis.com to share his thoughts on his recent struggles, his dynamic with Shah, and his ultimate goals in the sport.

CanalTenis: You’ve played some Padel in the past, including the league in Hyderabad. How do you balance that with your tennis ambitions?

Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta: Any tennis player would have the dream to be at a Grand Slam, same with me. That thought definitely came up, but no, I enjoy playing Padel. I’ve played the Padel league in Hyderabad. But as of now, I’m just focusing on tennis.

CanalTenis: How did you and Aryan decide to play this particular stretch of tournaments here in Spain?

Sai Karteek: Actually, me and Aryan spoke about the next set of tournaments two weeks back when we were playing in Germany. We were looking at tournaments which had hard courts. And then we figured out it was Spain, Portugal, Portugal. So that’s how we decided to come here. To be honest, we thought Tauste is going to be a grind for us. But after coming here, we started enjoying it more, and yeah, it feels very peaceful to be here.

CanalTenis: Looking back, what would you say is the best moment of your career so far?

Sai Karteek: Best moment… I mean, there were a lot of good moments for me, but to pick one would be really tough. But one of them would be maybe winning a home tournament in January along with a senior player, his name is Vishnu [Vardhan]. So yeah, I think winning at home with him has been a good experience and a good memory for me.

CanalTenis: It has been a bit of a challenging year for you physically. How has the comeback process been, and what is it like partnering with Aryan?

Sai Karteek: I think it’s been a rough season. I was injured like three months ago with my wrist, and I’m just coming back now. But when I started playing with Aryan, it’s been good. Honestly, playing with Aryan is very enjoyable. I like how he’s playing from the baseline and how he sets me up at the net. Our relationship is more like friends. We’re really good friends on court and off court. We discuss a lot of tennis off the court, and yes, it’s been a very fun few weeks that I’ve been playing with him.

CanalTenis: Finally, what is your ultimate goal in the sport?

Sai Karteek: I would like to play Wimbledon one day! (laughs) And yes, that would be my ultimate goal in tennis. Any tennis player would have the dream to be at a Grand Slam, same with me.
