MASON, Ohio — Former Ohio high school state champion and recent Yale graduate Vignesh Gogineni is set to make his mark on the ATP Tour after earning a qualifying wild card for the 2026 Cincinnati Open.

The 22-year-old local product headline a competitive qualifying field as the tournament brings top-tier international tennis back to Ohio from August 8–23.

Gogineni’s wild card spot marks a major milestone in a standout career built across local and collegiate ranks. A local standout, Gogineni capped off his junior tennis career by winning the 2022 Ohio High School state championship—following two consecutive state final appearances—and leading Mason High School to the team state title in 2019.

Transitioning to collegiate tennis at Yale University, the 22-year-old established himself at the top level, earning All-Ivy League honors while playing No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs throughout his collegiate campaign.

Gogineni isn’t the only local talent receiving direct entry into the qualifying draw. He joins fellow Cincinnati product JJ Wolf, a 27-year-old former Ohio State standout, Cincinnati Country Day graduate, and 2022 Florence ATP finalist.

The qualifying field also features high-profile international and domestic competitors, including former world No. 4 Kei Nishikori, four-time Challenger titleholder Mackenzie McDonald, and 18-year-old American prospect Darwin Blanch.

In the main draw, wild cards were awarded to former champion Grigor Dimitrov, three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka, British star Jack Draper, and fan favorite Gael Monfils.

Qualifying action at the Lindner Family Tennis Center begins on August 8, giving Gogineni a chance to compete on home soil against world-class opposition.
