BENGALURU — The Rohan Bopanna Tennis Development Foundation (RBTDF) has announced the transition and rebranding of the ‘Doubles Dream of India’ programme to the ‘Tennis Dream of India.’ The initiative, originally conceptualized jointly by Rohan Bopanna and the Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association (PMDTA), will expand its scope and relocate its primary base to Bengaluru.
As part of the restructuring, Kishor Patil, CEO and MD of KPIT Technologies, has officially joined the RBTDF Board of Directors.
Initially launched to cultivate elite doubles talent, the program has historically yielded significant results, assisting seven Indian players in breaking into the top 100 of the ATP world doubles rankings. Under its new mandate, the revamped ‘Tennis Dream of India’ will widen its target demographic to support promising singles and doubles athletes, specifically expanding the framework to include female players aiming for the professional Grand Slam circuit.
The programme will now operate out of the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA) facility in Bengaluru, providing selected athletes with access to centralized training infrastructure. PMDTA and KPIT Technologies, alongside institutions such as Avendus, will continue to figure into the initiative’s history of foundational support.
“PMDTA, KPIT, and Mr. Patil have been true partners in this journey from the very beginning,” said former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, who serves as the Programme Mentor. “As we take this next step forward, I’m delighted that [Patil] will now be guiding this mission even more closely as Director of RBTDF.”
Patil echoed the sentiment, noting that the transition under the RBTDF umbrella serves as a strategic move to scale up operations. “Bringing it under the RBTDF umbrella, alongside Rohan’s vision… gives us the platform to think bigger and aim higher for India’s next generation of champions,” Patil said.
