Arnav Paparkar made a strong opening to his Wimbledon Junior Grand Slam campaign, beating wildcard Joshua Craze 6-2 6-2 in Round 1 to earn his maiden win at the tournament.
A Statement Opening
Arnav, currently ranked Junior World No. 19, was in complete control from the first game. Craze, a wildcard entry ranked 897 in the ITF Junior rankings, was given little room to settle as Arnav dictated the tempo throughout. Both sets followed a similar pattern, with Arnav breaking early and never relinquishing his grip. The 6-2 6-2 scoreline was a reflection of Arnav’s dominance throughout the match.
What Lies Ahead
The draw throws up a stern second-round test. Arnav will next face Junior World No. 3 Keaton Hance, with a place in Round 3 at stake. It is a significant step up in opposition, but Arnav will head into the match on the back of a commanding performance.
