India’s Dhakshineswar Suresh pulled off a massive upset in the first round of qualifying at the ATP 75 Cary Tennis Classic, defeating former World No. 135 Mitchell Krueger in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The victory marks a major redemption for Suresh (ATP 477), who had lost his only previous head-to-head encounter against the American veteran last year.
Dominant Serving Inside the Numbers
Suresh put on a serving masterclass to dismantle Krueger (ATP 350). Backed by 10 aces, the Indian standout won an incredible 33 out of 38 points on his first serve. He remained unbreakable throughout the match, saving the solitary break point he faced to seal the victory in dominant fashion.
