Rutuja Bhosale and Fangran Tian claim ITF W50 Palma del Río Doubles Title

Rutuja Bhosale capped off a memorable week in Spain by lifting the doubles trophy at the ITF W50 Palma del Rio, partnering China’s Fangran Tian.

The fourth-seeded Indo-Chinese pair put together a flawless run through the draw, never dropping a set throughout, and saved their most composed performance for the biggest stage.

A Final to Remember

In the title match, Bhosale and Tian faced the third-seeded Australian duo of Elena Micic and Belle Thompson, who had earlier beaten fellow Indians Vaishnavi Adkar and Prarthana Thombare in a thrilling semifinal that went the distance via a super tie-break.

The final brought about a different picture, with Bhosale and Tian displaying complete control from the outset, closing it out 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the coveted title without dropping a set.

The Road to the Title

The pair navigated their semifinal against the top-seeded combination of Tiphanie Lemaitre and Anita Wagner with authority, winning 6-2, 6-3 in a performance that underlined the chemistry and comfort the two players have built on court together. Prior to that, they won 6-3 6-3 against Celia Cervino Ruiz and Valentina Losciale in the quarterfinals.

Doubles Pedigree on Display

For Bhosale, the title is a further addition to an increasingly decorated doubles resume. The current Indian No. 1 in the WTA doubles rankings, has long been regarded as one of India’s finest on the doubles circuit. This ITF title, her first of 2026 and 29th overall, continue to reinforce her stature as a reliable force on the ITF tour.
