Three rounds deep on debut: Arnav Paparkar tests himself against the best at Roland-Garros Juniors and comes away richer for it

Arnav Paparkar’s spectacular campaign at Roland-Garros Junior Championships 2026 ended in the third round against Jack Kennedy, who won 7-5, 6-2, but the result tells only part of the story.

The opponent waiting in round three was no ordinary junior. At 18, Kennedy already carries an ATP ranking of 426, has reached an ATP Challenger final, and was once ranked as high as third in the world in junior tennis. Paparkar ran into someone operating at the sharper end of the junior-to-pro transition, a player with considerably more professional mileage.

The scoreline, though not in Paparkar’s favour, shows the Indian went toe-to-toe against his more established opponent in set 1, before Kennedy pulled away. A third-round finish on debut at Roland Garros Juniors, against an opponent of Kennedy’s calibre, is a result he can build on.

For Paparkar, Paris 2026 was another milestone in what is shaping up to be a consistent upward trajectory. Reaching this stage of a Grand Slam junior event on one of the most demanding surfaces in the sport, says plenty about where he’s headed.
