“Did I Promise?”: Jannik Sinner’s Hilarious Memory Lapse Over India Visit Goes Viral

“Did I promise? I don’t remember.” 😭

That was Jannik Sinner’s hilarious first response when asked about his long awaited visit to India after previously saying in 2024 that he would love to play there.

During his post match press conference after defeating Cameron Norrie, Sinner was asked about his growing fanbase in India and whether Indian fans could still expect to see him visit the country someday.

The exchange quickly turned into one of the funniest moments of the media session.

“Uh, did I? I don’t remember. I promised.”

After the room laughed, Sinner gathered himself and gave a genuinely thoughtful answer about India, Indian tennis, and the players coming through the system today.

He mentioned that India has produced “amazing players” over the years and said he hopes even more talent emerges in the future. While he stopped short of confirming any immediate plans to visit, he admitted that India remains a place he would love to experience one day.

“It’s a part of the world I’ve never been and I would like to visit one day.”

Sinner also revealed that he shares a connection with Indian tennis through young Indian prospect Manas Dhamne, who trained at the same tennis center as him during his younger years.

“There is also one younger one which practiced in the same center as I did back in the days coming from India.”

For Indian tennis fans, that little detail did not go unnoticed.

And because no conversation involving India is complete without food entering the discussion, Sinner was also asked about his favourite Indian dish.

After briefly checking if he got the name right, the World No. 1 smiled and answered:

“Butter chicken… yeah, that’s something I enjoy.”

The clip quickly started doing rounds across tennis Twitter and Instagram, with fans loving:
• Sinner pretending to forget the “promise” to visit India
• the unexpectedly wholesome answer
• the Manas Dhamne mention
• and of course, the butter chicken approval 🍛

Some fans joked that India now has “official verbal confirmation” again, while others were already demanding an Indian Open wildcard appearance.

Back in 2024, Sinner had already expressed interest in visiting India in an interview with Sky Sports, where he said he would love to play there someday.

For now, the wait continues.

But judging by the reactions online, Indian tennis fans clearly have not forgotten 👀🇮🇳
