ITF Tennis Tournament Main Draw Begins at Arera Club, Bhopal

The prestigious ITF Tennis Tournament kicked off at the Arera Club, Bhopal, on Tuesday with a vibrant and well-attended Inauguration Ceremony. The event was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Vishvas Kailash Sarang, who attended as the Chief Guest and formally declared the Tournament open.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sarang appreciated the efforts of Arera Club and the Organizing Committee for bringing an International-Level Sporting Event to the City. He emphasized the importance of such Tournaments in promoting Sports culture among the youth and providing a global platform to emerging Indian players.

Club Officials, Senior Members, Coaches, and Tennis enthusiasts were present in large numbers to witness the Opening Ceremony. The event began with a brief introduction of participating Players, followed by the traditional release of Balloons and fan fair.

Soon after the inauguration, the courts came alive as the opening matches commenced, featuring intense rallies and competitive play. Players from multiple Countries are participating in this edition of the Tournament, adding an International flavour and raising the competitive standard of the event.

According to the Organizers, the Tournament will continue throughout the week with matches scheduled in both Singles and Doubles Categories. Tennis lovers of Bhopal are expected to flock to the venue to enjoy world-class tennis action.

The ITF Tournament at Arera Club has grown steadily over the years, becoming a significant event in the city’s sporting calendar and a valuable opportunity for local players to observe and learn from International talent.

Singles Main Draw Result (1st Round)

  2. G Lomakin (Kaz) defeated Jeffrey Khushwin (Ind) – 6-0, 6-0.
  3. A Shanmugam (Ind) defeated Aryan Lakshmanan (Ind) – 6-4, 6-3.
  4. Arjun Rathi (Ind) defeated Raghav Jaisinghani (Ind) – 6-3, 6-2.
  5. N Sinha (Ind) defeated Ajay Malik (Ind) – 6-3, 7-6 (9).
  6. Arnav Paparkar (Ind) defeated Atharva Sharma (Ind) – 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
  7. Udit Kamboj (Ind) defeated Vishnu Vardhan (Ind) – 6-3, 7-6 (6).
  8. Siddhant Banthia (Ind) defeated Vadym Konovchuk (Ukr) – 4-6, 7-6(0), 5-2 Retired.

Doubles Main Draw Result (1st Round)

  1. S D Prajwal & Nitin Kumar Sinha (Ind) defeated Anup Bangargi & Nirav D Shetty (Ind) – 6-0, 6-3.
  2. Madhwin Kamath & Rohan Mehra (Ind) defeated Parth Aggarwal & Tarun Karra (Ind) – 7-6 (2), 4-6 (10-5).
  3. Ishaque Eqbal & Kabir Hans (Ind) defeated A Shanmugam & Yash Yadav (Ind) – 7-5, 6-2.
  4. Dmitry Bessonov & Makar Krivoshchekov defeated Udit Kamboj & D Kodancha Srinivasan (Ind) – 3-6, 6-2 (10-6).
