Rajeev Ram (USA) Joins Elite Company with 500th Career Doubles Win

New York, NY – American doubles specialist Rajeev Ram etched his name into the ATP Tour history books on Sunday at the US Open, securing his 500th career doubles victory. The milestone win came in a second-round match where he and his Croatian partner, Nikola Mektic, advanced to the third round of the tournament.

This significant achievement places the 41-year-old in an exclusive group as only the seventh active male player to reach this impressive number of wins. Notably, he is the only active American player to have accomplished this feat, underscoring his longevity and consistent success at the highest level of the sport.

The setting for this career landmark was fittingly at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, a venue where Ram has enjoyed some of the most triumphant moments of his career. He is a three-time defending US Open men’s doubles champion, having won the title from 2021 to 2023 with his former partner, Joe Salisbury.

Ram’s journey to 500 wins has been marked by numerous accolades. A former ATP Doubles World No. 1, he has captured 32 tour-level doubles titles, including four Grand Slam men’s doubles crowns (three US Opens and one Australian Open). His illustrious career also boasts two ATP Finals championships and two Olympic silver medals for the United States.

The recent victory in New York continues a successful summer for Ram and Mektic, who recently triumphed at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati. This late-career resurgence with a new partner demonstrates Ram’s enduring skill and adaptability on the court.

In comments made following the milestone, Ram expressed his pride in reaching a goal he had set for himself, reflecting on a professional journey that began in 2004. From a promising junior and collegiate player at the University of Illinois, he has evolved into one of the most decorated and respected figures in the world of doubles tennis.
