The Swiss Davis Cup squad has been announced for their upcoming World Group I tie against India, scheduled for September 12-13, 2025, in Biel, Switzerland. The team, led by non-playing captain Severin Lüthi, is comprised of a mix of rising stars and a doubles specialist.
Leading the charge for the Swiss will be Jerome Kym, who recently impressed at the US Open by fighting his way through qualifying and reaching the third round. His participation comes with excellent momentum, and he will be a key player for the team. The Swiss singles lineup also features Dominic Stricker and Marc-Andrea Huesler, both of whom will likely compete for the second singles spot. The doubles rubber will be anchored by Jakub Paul, who is expected to be a pivotal player for the team in doubles.
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has also selected their squad for the tie, with India’s top-ranked singles player Sumit Nagal returning to the team after a hiatus. He will be joined by youngster Karan Singh and Aryan Shah in the singles lineup. India’s doubles hopes will rest on the experienced pair of Yuki Bhambri and N. Sriram Balaji. It’s important to note that Dhakshineswar Suresh will travel with the team as a reserve, and captain Rohit Rajpal has the obvious option of drafting him in the main squad, given his recent form and serving prowess that can come in handy on indoor hard courts.
Adding to the intrigue, the participation of another Swiss talent, Leandro Riedi, is still pending. Riedi made a deep run at the US Open, reaching the fourth round, and his potential inclusion would significantly bolster the Swiss side. A decision on his availability is expected in the coming days, with the lineup able to be changed up to one hour before the draw.
The tie, which will be played on an indoor hard court, is a critical one, with the winner advancing to the 2026 Davis Cup Qualifiers and the loser relegated to the World Group I Playoffs. Given the recent form of their top players, Switzerland enters as the clear favorite.
