Ahmedabad, India – India’s top-ranked female tennis player, Ankita Raina, secured a decisive victory over Japan’s Funa Kozaki in the second round of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) W50 event held in Ahmedabad. Raina triumphed in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Following her win, Raina expressed her satisfaction with her performance, acknowledging the challenges of adjusting to conditions in the early rounds of a tournament. “I’m happy with the game today,” Raina stated. “You know, it was first round and it’s always a bit tricky because you’re trying to get adjusted to the conditions.”

The home advantage played a significant role in Raina’s success. “I’m very glad with the support that I got today,” she emphasized. “You know, I’m playing at home in Ahmedabad and I had all my supporters, my fans, well wishers, that really helped me, motivated me, especially in the crucial moments both in the first set and second set.”
