Leander Paes Joins Sports Experts Advisory Committee to Boost Indian Tennis

Tennis legend Leander Paes, India’s 1996 Atlanta Olympics bronze medalist, has been named a member of the newly constituted 17-member Sports Experts Advisory Committee. Joining him on the panel are boxing icon Mary Kom and badminton star Saina Nehwal, along with other eminent athletes and sports officials.

The committee, formed by the government, aims to identify and nurture young sporting talent, ensure fair selection processes, and enhance India’s performance on the global stage. A key focus will be on strengthening training facilities, evaluating coaching standards, and addressing athlete concerns.

For Indian tennis, Paes’ inclusion is a significant step. His vast experience in international tournaments will help guide young players, streamline the selection of national teams, and improve coaching infrastructure. His expertise is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Indian tennis and ensuring the country remains competitive in the global arena.

With a strong advisory panel in place, Indian sports—especially tennis—can look forward to a more structured and transparent system that fosters excellence.
