Indian No. 3 Shrivalli Bhamidipaty had a dominant 6-1 6-0 win over the World No. 182 Elena Pridankina of Russia in the 1st round of the WTA L&T 125 Mumbai Open.

Interviewer: Shrivalli, congratulations on your win! How does it feel to win in this big match at the L&T Mumbai Open?

Shrivalli Bhamidipaty: Thank you so much. I’m really grateful that I got an opportunity to play in the main draw this year with the wildcard. So, I would first like to thank Sundar sir for giving me this opportunity. And I think I’m really happy with the way I played today. Honestly, I was expecting a really tough match, and I think I prepared well for that, and I’m glad that I could just do my best, I mean, give my best tennis on the court.

Interviewer: Was this match tougher than you expected?

Shrivalli Bhamidipaty: Honestly, it was much quicker than I expected, but I’m glad I could make it.

Interviewer: Winning against an international player is a big moment. How special is this win for you?

Shrivalli Bhamidipaty: Well, it’s an amazing boost. It’s another top 200 win in my career. So I think I’m very happy and I’m looking forward to the coming week.
