Pune, India – India’s top-ranked women’s tennis player, Sahaja Yamalapalli, shared her thoughts following a hard-fought second-round loss to top-seeded Leolia Jeanjean of France at the International Tennis Federation W75 tournament held at the Deccan Gymkhana in Pune. Yamalapalli fell to the World No. 131 Jeanjean 4-6, 4-6.

Despite the loss, Yamalapalli remained positive, highlighting the improvements she has made in her game. “Hi, I’m Sahaja Yamalapalli,” she began. “I had a tough match today against Leolia Jeanjean here at Deccan Gymkhana. It was a really good match. I played well, and my opponent played really well.”

Reflecting on her recent performances, Yamalapalli drew comparisons to a similar match from the previous week in Bangalore. “I mean, last week I played a similar kind of opponent in Bangalore, and I lost. But the scoreline is about the same. However, I’ve made a lot of improvements. We felt like the numbers, you know, when we chat, we could see that there’s so much improvement in my game. So that was a positive to take away.”

While disappointed with the result, Yamalapalli’s focus remains on the progress she is making and the positive aspects of her performance.
