After two successful years together, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden are set to conclude their partnership this week at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Despite a challenging start in the tournament with two losses, the duo is focused on finishing strong as they approach their final match today against Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz.
Bopanna and Ebden began the 2024 season with a powerful start, winning the Australian Open and propelling both players to World No.1. Reflecting on their journey, Bopanna remarked in an interview with ATP Tour, “I think we have had a great two years together, and to finish on a high note, I think it will be beautiful.” After early successes in 2024, they encountered a mid-season slump but reignited their momentum with a deep semifinal run at Roland Garros, securing their place in the ATP Finals.
The team’s remarkable achievements include winning Miami in addition to Melbourne, fulfilling most of the goals they set when they decided to continue their partnership this year. “We said, ‘Let’s try to go together for one more big title [in Turin] and finish on a big high,’” Ebden shared with ATP Tour.
Bopanna, who at 43 became the oldest World No. 1, will pursue new partnerships next season. “I’m looking forward to finding a good partner and definitely looking forward to continuing playing in 2025,” he stated.
With only one match left together, Bopanna and Ebden are determined to finish on a high.
