Sumit Nagal awaits Paris-Bercy fate

India No.1 and World No. 81 Sumit Nagal is waiting to find out if he will make the qualifying draw of the ATP 1000 Rolex Paris Masters, the world’s largest indoor tennis event.

Nagal currently sits as the 6th alternate in the qualifying list of Paris-Bercy, as the tournament is also known, with qualifying set to begin on Saturday, 26th October.

Qualifying Entry List

While Nagal’s chances look bleak, there is hope, given a few of the players signed up for qualifying in Paris-Bercy are still competing in the ATP 500 events this week in Basel and Vienna – David Goffin in Basel and Jakub Mensik in Vienna. Besides, Sebastian Korda, entered in the main draw list, recently underwent elbow surgery, as per his Instagram update. However, it remains to be seen if he withdraws before the qualifying draw is made.

There are lots of permutations and combinations possible, with the final outcome expected in less than 24 hours. As in the case of most things in life, it’s safe to say ‘time will tell’.

If Nagal does make it to the qualifying draw, it will be his debut at this prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event, the only one played indoors.
