Karti P Chidambaram Urges TN Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin to Honor Tennis Legend Ramanathan Krishnan

Tamil Nadu Tennis Association Vice President and Lok Sabha MP, Karti P Chidambaram has written to Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin requesting the state government to honor Indian tennis icon, Ramanathan Krishnan. In his letter, Karti Chidambaram praised the government for the recent inauguration of the “Vijay Amritraj Pavilion” at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai, an event graced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, prominent ministers, officials and tennis stars like Somdev Devvarman and Prajnesh Gunneswaran.

In a press statement released today, Karti Chidambaram commended the Tamil Nadu government’s initiative and expressed hope that they would similarly honor Ramanathan Krishnan, a tennis doyen and source of immense pride for Tamil Nadu. He emphasized Krishnan’s outstanding contributions to Indian tennis highlighting his significant achievements including reaching the Wimbledon semifinals in 1960 and 1961.

Ramanathan Krishnan’s legacy continues to inspire the next generation of tennis players, and recognizing his contributions would be a fitting tribute to one of Tamil Nadu’s greatest sports icons.
