Sweden is in firm control of their Davis Cup tie against India, with a 2-0 lead after Leo Borg’s impressive victory over Ramkumar Ramanathan. Borg, ranked 603rd, outplayed the higher-ranked Ramanathan (332nd) 6-3, 6-4 to push Sweden closer to victory.
Earlier in the day, Elias Ymer had defeated Sriram Balaji 6-4, 6-2 to secure Sweden’s first point. With India now needing to win all remaining matches, their chances in the tie appear slim going into Day 2.
Balaji/Ramanathan will take on Goransson/Bergevi in the do-or-die doubles tie tomorrow at 3.30 PM IST.
