Rohan Bopanna will have a new partner at the upcoming ATP 500 Beijing Open to be played from 26 September on hard courts in China. 44 year old Bopanna, who has dropped a couple of spots to No.6 in the latest ATP Doubles Rankings, has had two stints partnering Dodig in the past, one in 2017 and one in 2021, with their best result being reaching the final at the 2017 ATP Montreal Masters 1000 event. Bopanna and Dodig were also teammates, playing for the Indian Aces, in the erstwhile International Premier Tennis League (IPTL).
Interestingly, Bopanna will be without his regular partner Matthew Ebden, who seems to have chosen to take this week off, as he doesn’t appear in the entry lists of either Beijing or Tokyo. It remains to be seen if the pair will reunited for the ATP Shanghai Masters 1000 event scheduled for the week after Beijing.
Dodig is a former doubles World No.2 and has won 7 Grand Slams (3 in Men’s Doubles and 4 in Mixed Doubles).
