Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal, ranked 72nd in the world, will face off against the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor, currently ranked 40th, in the first round of the 2024 US Open. This highly anticipated match is scheduled for either Monday or Tuesday, with Nagal looking to make an impact in the tournament.
Griekspoor, known for his strong performances on hard courts, poses a tough challenge, but Nagal will be aiming for a solid start as he seeks to make his mark in the prestigious Grand Slam. Nagal and Griekspoor just once before, in the final of the 2019 Banja Luka Challenger on clay, where Griekspoor triumphed in straight sets.
Interestingly, the two practiced together ahead of the 2023 ATP 250 Tata Open Maharashtra in Pune, where Nagal won the practice set 6-1. However, it was Griekspoor who went on to win the singles title there.
