Indian No. 1 Sumit Nagal will have his work cut out for him as he makes his Winston-Salem Open debut. 74th ranked Nagal has drawn former World No.12 Borna Coric in the first round of the ATP 250 tournament.
Coric, the 2022 Cincinnati Masters champion, brings a wealth of experience and firepower to the match. Despite being currently ranked 83rd in the world, the Croatian will prove to be a formidable opponent for Nagal. Nagal has been going through a mini rough patch, having lost the last three matches he’s played.
The match promises to be a stern test for the Indian, but it also presents a golden opportunity for him to make another statement on the ATP Tour. The will be played either on Sunday or Monday.
The winner of this match is slated to play top seed and defending champion Sebastian Baez from Argentina in the 2nd round.
