Rohan Bopanna retires from representing India; to continue on the ATP Tour

44 year old Rohan Bopanna, one of India’s most prolific tennis players and athletes, has announced that the Paris Olympics will be his last event for India. However, Bopanna will continue representing India on the ATP Tour, where he currently competes with Australian partner Matt Ebden. This also rules out Bopanna from the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Bopanna and Balaji had endured a tough loss against Monfils/Roger-Vasselin in the 1st round of the Paris Olympics last night in front of a partisan crowd in Paris, losing 5-7 2-6 to the French pair.

Bopanna has been having a stellar year on the ATP circuit, winning the Australian Open title, and subsequently climbing to No.1 in the world rankings, becoming the oldest ever player to do so.

He is slated to take part in the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal, Canada next from 5th August with regular partner Matthew Ebden.
