MORELOS, MEXICO – Indian tennis stars Arjun Kadhe and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan made history this week by claiming their first ATP Challenger doubles title together. The pair displayed stellar form, earning a decisive victory in the tournament final.
“Pretty excited, pretty happy how the week went. It’s our first title together,” said Kadhe after their win.
Nedunchezhiyan added, “We played a very good final. Definitely a good week here with Arjun. We’ve been working quite hard on our game, putting our strengths together and becoming a good unit. I’m very proud of our effort in the last one month. I think we’re really coming together now as a team. I’m very, very happy that we finally got our first title out of the way. I’m looking forward to it anymore.”
This victory is set to boost their ATP Doubles rankings, with Arjun Kadhe expected to climb closer to his career-high ranking by reaching 102, and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan reaching 127 in the rankings next week. Their next stop is the ATP Challenger 125 category GNP Seguros Tennis Open in Acapulco.
Kadhe expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament setting, “I think it’s a lovely set-up here in Morelos, Mexico. It is my first time here and a really nice centre-court. As you can see, a lot of people coming out. I think it’s awesome to have so many enthusiasts come and support us. It gives us a lot of enjoyment to play. Especially winning in this situation is a cherry on top.”
