I had just come to watch the players on the other courts. Did not know Sumit was playing. But when I saw Sumit is playing, being an Indian, I had to come and watch. It is such a proud moment to see an Indian qualify for the Monte Carlo Masters for the first time in the last 42 years. I had goosebumps watching the match. Feel proud to be an Indian today,” Abhishek shared, his voice filled with enthusiasm and pride.
For Abhishek, witnessing Nagal’s historic participation in the Monte Carlo Masters evoked a sense of national pride that he will always cherish. “I’ve been a Nadal fan since 2004. So I felt disappointed when he withdrew few days back. But watching Nagal play today was incredible. I will never forget this moment in my entire life,” he expressed, reflecting on the unexpected joy of seeing a fellow countryman compete at such a prestigious event.
Desai vowed to catch all of Nagal’s next matches in Monte Carlo in the coming days.
