Hard hitting 20 year old Karan Singh pulled off the biggest win of his career to beat top seed and ATP #267 Evgeny Donskoy 6-3 6-4. Donskoy has a career high ranking of 65 and is famous for having beaten a certain Roger Federer at the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
This has been a remarkable week for Singh, who is yet to drop a set so far. But he’ll face a stern test against compatriot and 3rd seed Ramkumar Ramanathan in the final, who is also yet to drop a set this week. Ramanathan beat Vietnam’s Nam Hoang Ly 6-2 6-4 in the semi-final.
Singh Breaks The Semi-Final Jinx
Singh is not a stranger to going deep in the ITF Futures events, but had lost four times in the semi-final before today’s clash against Donskoy. He would be glad to have made it to the final on his fifth attempt.
